I have seen forum comments about the Ford THICK FILM IGNITION MODULES also known as the TFI module---causing this problem. Seems like when the failing module warms up from engine heat, it goes on break and the engine stalls without any immediate restart. If your TFI is mounted at the base of the distributor, this may be your problem. You did not report the engine size so I am guessing. The TFI module is easily identified. It is a grey plastic case with the shape/size of a conventional chocolate candy bar. Some are mounted on the condenser of V-6 engines (easily seen with the hood open --and mounted in a metal heatsink.

Considering it's a '92 SC, I'd venture to say it's a 3.8.

it can be a number of things. you will have to pin point if it is fuel related or spark related. when your engine fails to start , is the upshift indicator light on while cranking?if so this indicates that the pcm is failing to recieve a signal from crank sensor, which is notorious for going bad on the super coupes.do you hear the fuel pump coming on when it fails to start? it would be a good idea to check for fuel pressure when engine fails to start. another common item that can cause this is the ignition module, its not on the distributor cuz your engine has a Distributorless Ignition System. or DIS. you will see a box located at the top part of your engine(either gray or black in color) that is labeled Motorcraft DIS. you cant miss it. however before you start throwing parts at it verify if you have spark and/or fuel during this no start condition.
