Lt1?

Hi,
I just bought a beautiful 1994 Caprice WAGON with a 350. How can I tell if its the LT1. Also, how do I reset that "Change oil" light?
Thanks

Re: Lt1?

the SPID sticker in the trunk or rear will tell you, it will have the letters LT1, also disconnect the battery for a few minutes then reconnect it should reset the light. if not post agian. I have a service manual, I'll check it out

Re: Lt1?

If it's a 94 with a 350, then it's an LT1 as the L05 was no longer offered in 1994.

To reset the change oil light you dont have to disconnect the battery.

Open fuse box and youll see the button that you have to push for a few seconds to reset the light. It should turn on in another 3K miles or so.

Re: Lt1?

I have only heard of one 94-96 wagon with something other than a LT1 and it appears to have been a one off special order. For all practiacl purposes 94-96 wagon equals LT1.
Also the L99 looks exactly like an LT1 so looking at a motor does not tell you it is an LT1. The Caprice civilian or 9C1 were supposed to be the only cars with that available though, but like I said there is one report of a Caprice wagon with one.

One month is not an unreasonable amount of time to reply to a thread. Sometimes, people check out these forums on an irregular basis and might miss something important to them.Or someone new may have something to add without making a new thread and cluttering up the forum. If you check out some of the other forums on this site you'll see that threads older than one month are constantly being replied to. I wouldn't really go beyond 90 days however, it would probably be preferred that a new thread be started:

Nobody was saying that anybody was an "asshole". Sorry if you took my post the wrong way. I was merely stating that there is no real timeframe mentioned in the rules about posting in outdated threads. I researched through this site, ( both "Forum Rules", and FAQ,) to see, and couldn't really nail down any specifics. I did however, find some interpretations from some of the moderators on this site which concur with the 3 month or 90 day timeframe for threads. I happen to agree that 90 days is sufficient time for the life of a thread, and one month may be too short. If you notice if you go to post a poll in a thread, you are given an option to continue the poll and receive votes with no expiration date, although the mods would like the poster to limit that in the COT forum to 10 days, because of the high turnover.

I never looked at the date but wrong info is wrong info and we wouldn't want someone finding it in a search and thinking it is right would we? Is't correct info always better?
