Cool And its about bloody time...

Well right when I least expected it, I bought myself a GTO. I have wanted a GTO for a very long time but had always had other things to worry about. For example, at the end of the year I am going around the world for 6 months.

So thats why I wasnt really in the whole car buying mood, that is until my mate told me about a local auction house selling a GTO... I decided to go down and have a look anyway. Mainly just because GTOs are so insanely rare over here I just wanted to go and have a look at one up close for the 1st time. I rocked up at the auction house and I was amazed at how clean it was. No paint blemishes at all, the stock rims were like new, the black leather interior was shmick with only a tiny bit of wear on the inside of the drivers seat. I was so impressed I decide to throw caution to the wind and have a bid. My highest limit was $16,500 (rediculously low for a GTO) so when the bidding started at $17,000 I was a little disapointed. But then, no bids. The starting bid dropped to $16,000, then $15,000... Then I bid Some other person bid me up to $16,250 and then dropped off. THE GTO WAS MINE!! Or so I thought. It turns out the reserve price was $20,500... Disheartened but not disenchanted I went again next week and bid again.

I won the bidding at $16,250 again (wierd, exact same price) and went home waiting for the call to tell me I hadnt met the reserve. The call came, but I was told... it was mine.

To put it in perspective how cheap this is, the cheapest GTO for sale in the WHOLE OF AUSTRALIA is $24,000. Now you see why I am this happy.

I am stoked about the car. Its isnt quite as fast as my 300zx but its still pretty quick. And it is DEFINATELY better looking. It turns heads everywhere I drive. I love it.

It feels good after reading on this forum for over a year now to finally be able to make this post! Here is a link to the auction houses pics of my car. http://www.pickles.com.au/servlet/Au...m_id=852002512

Did I mention that I was happy?

OK, by looking at it, I'm guessing it isn't TT, but even still a RHD 3S is sexy as hell. Congrats man!

Wrong! Its twin turbo, oh yes... it is a twin turbo alright... Hehehehe. I just uncorked the free boost mod a couple of hours ago and damm does that make a difference to the pickup of the car. It seems so strange that you guys are making such a big deal out of it being a RHD Of course I understand why, but its still pretty funny from my end

At least someone here has a sharp eye... Yes it does have active aero but only on the back. Someone had disconected the front active aero and removed the whole thing. All that is left there is the wires where it used to be connected.

Thanks for the compliments on the cars! The 300zx was quicker than the GTO though even with the free boost mod done. I am pretty sure the 300zx has an after market ecu in it though. It is MUCH faster than it should be given its current level of mods. The GT4 was really fun car to drive! So insanely chuckable! AWD and the 3sgte make a great couple! Unfortunately they have both recently found new homes. The 300zx with my boss and the GT4 with my mate. On the plus side, I can still borrow them both whenever I so desire I would have like to keep them but owning 3 turbo cars is a little hard on the wallet.

Dammit I'm a moron. Didn't look close enough...saw no chrome 6 spokes and didn't really think too hard about it.
Again...VERY NICE.

Fantastic!

Looks sharp and you got it for a good price - what more could you ask for?

Another one?? But do you all want to hear the kicker??

... I just sold it Yes after 5 glorious days of ownership, I have sold it already. The actual handing over of the car again isnt till next week but it has effectivly been sold. I have made about $2500 on the sale of the GTO which will go towards my trip. The trip, is why I sold it. I am going around the world on the 4th of January so I would be pointless to have a car sitting there for 6 months doing nothing so I sold it to a mate of mine.

At least I know it is going to be thoroughly used I sold it to a person by the name of Tristan Hewitt (known on MR2oc as "flupstar" who is heavily involved with MR2s. His daily driver is an 11.3 second MR2 turbo that is fully capable of a 10 second run but he just hasnt run it at the drags properly yet. He runs his own tuning shop www.wtfauto.com and he has some nice plans instore for my GTO

But dont worry, after I get back from my trip, I am going to source an MR GTO from japan and import it to Australia to enjoy. The main 'problem' is that most of the MRs that have been coming up for auction are 99's so it might cost a bit more but I have every intention of getting one!

Sorry to love you and leave you guys

Yeah I know I could have but there were 2 benefits in selling it at that price.

A) I didnt have to bother advertising. So that saved me a lot of hassle and worry. I only have 6 weeks left before I leave and I dont want to have to worry about whether or not it will be sold in time. And when selling a rare high performance car like that, you attract a lot of test pilots which just want to have a thrash of your car. So it was just really convenient.

and B) I know the guy I sold it to. His name is tristan hewitt and he is a tuner. He mostly tunes MR2s but he also loves GTOs as much as I do and he has some big plans for that car. So because I know him I get to see the buildup of the car and Im sure I'll still get to have adrive of it every now and then too
