96 egr valve
I need to remove and clean the egr valve on my 96 passport. It looks like there are two parts. There is a solid part bolted to the intake and then a black can shaped part (w/electrical connection)bolted to that. Do I need to separate them to clean it properly?

Follow the same directions as found on Amigo's 98+ Faq's - it's simple and easy.
Just be careful to not accidently drop/launch  the EGR valve across the engine when taking it off. I just recently had to clean mine, never had before, and after taking the two bolts off, it was still stuck on like super-glue. Kind of wiggled, but didn't want to break anything, then all of a sudden it popped free, and kind of "jumped"  out of my hands and flew across the engine, landing on the edge of the battery.It actually made me laugh, as it just popped up and took off like it had a mind of it's own. Thought for sure I was going to have to buy a new one - it hit the battery pretty hard. I cleaned up the valve itself along with the passage ways - without the engine running, let it sit for a good hour, then put everything back together - using the same gasket, and took her out on the highway. BIG difference.
