Xbox 360...what the hell?

I don't know about your area but here at the Wal-Mart they have a Xbox 360 you can play and everything. I guess it's Mr. Bill trying to get some buyers right before it comes out.

The only two games you can play on there are King Kong and Call of Duty 2. They have some videos of the new Splinter Cell and some sports games.



The graphics look liked they took a normal Xbox game and just tweaked it a bit.
Sure the videos that previewed some of the games didn't look bad at all. The game play though didn't impress me at all. I was thinking the whole time, "this is it?"

The one I played the most was Call of Duty 2. I'll admit some of the background images while going through the level were very cool. When you got close though is where I had problems at.
The guys only seemed to be sharpened up a bit from an old Xbox game. They also seemed to have a little more detail to them.
So basically the graphics up close, like a soldier, just looked like jazzed up Xbox graphics. They didn't seem to jump out at me or look like the graphics of a next generation system should or anything.

I also played some of King Kong. I don't know what to think of this. They sucked some major ass here. When Kong is fighting the T-rex, the tail goes through Kong, while they grab each other there's no life to it, like squares, circles, and rectangles grabbing each other. The only stuff that seem to be good was the fur on Kong and the jungle environment.

Here's what gets me though, I play the video of the new Splinter Cell, I was blown away. The graphics were simply amazing. They were almost as good as the graphics from the MGS4 trailer. I go back to play the games though and they look like shit. What the hell?

Anway, because of this I'm seriously considering not getting a 360 unless I can look at some other games and see some serious improvements from what I saw.

So has anybody else got the chance to play one yet? I don't know if there's other places besides Wal-Mart setting them up.

Yeah, i knew about that. I actually had the chance to get one, but I dont want it. I saw it with my own eyes and touched it and everything!!! I asked my mom to get it if she could, long story, but i figured i could resale for a little more since Id be one of the few with one this early...well, a few weeks ago actually.

On the PS3 side we have: Final Fantasy, Gran Turismo, and Metal Gear.

not that soon...PS3 aint coming out for another 5 months, or whatever...

I'm sticking with my PS2 till then, they're still making games for it anyways...plus I STILL have to beat Silent Hill 4 and the Suffering

I wont buy an 360 until Halo 3 and Quake 4 come out, and they better be damn good games for me to do that.

I actually do in a way. My birthday is this month and Christmas is next month. That and if I want the 360 I can sell all my Xbox stuff and get 1/4 of it paid right there.

Damn same thing for me.. either Xbox or Ps3.. and man its hard chosing, but I think i'll still go for Ps3, it just looks like its going to have more.. I could care less about Final Fantasy, and im waiting for RE5, MGS, and GT. Even if Xbox will have KOTOR (Which I love) and Halo, it just isnt enough because im sure KOTOR will come out for the PC, even if Halo doesnt, which kinda tips the scales more to PS for me because you can almost buy all the good games for Xbox on the PC, or atleast right now you have.

thats why im waiting for PS3, have you seen the previews of UT2k7 for it? OMG it was ungodly amazing.

20 bucks says that 6 months after the PS3 is released, Xbox makes a 360 revision so its more powerful.

no, theyre just releasing halo so sales will compete. im confused by the toughness of decision making...

You list a few games that the 360 will have. That's all they'll have just like the xbox. In the end, Sony will have a larger and better selection.

Sure, xbox might have a few key games, they always do. But lately they're so easy you could rent the system and game and beat it in the time youre renting it for. or bum off your friends.

I've been doing some research and I've come to this conclusion.

Games: It seems the 360 will have a little more bang, bang shoot em up. The PS3 will have these too but I think the 360 will edge out just a little. The PS3 though will dominate the RPG and sports market. These aren't my kind of games though.

Performance: Both have their pros and cons. The PS3 will edge out a little but nothing really big. They're pretty even in this area.

SPACE: This is what is getting me. I want to get the 360 until I get to this point.
The PS3's blue-ray disk can hold 30-50 GB of space. The 360 isn't even using HD-DVD disc but duel layer DVDs that can only hold 10 GB. What in the hell is this all about?
Lets think about this shall we? Grand Theft Auto 4 comes out for both systems, lets just say.
What is going to look better?
If I have a good 30 GB of space I can fit a whole lot of stuff on there. If I only have 10 GB I'll have to cut down on levels, graphics, sounds, environments, play, ect.

The people making DOA4 are using the disk to it's full capacity already. What does that tell you about games coming out in a year? They'll be held back while PS3 game makers will be able to expand more and more because space won't be a problem for them. If it is that'll be a fucking awesome game if it uses 50 GB of info.

Any thoughts on this subject?
