Wipers won't shut off...

The wipers on my 98 Malibu turn on ok, but they won't shut off. If I pull the fuse while the wipers are all the way down, they'll stay off. If they're not all the way down when the fuse is pulled, they'll go right back on when the fuse is replaced.

I checked the switch assembly, and it's ok; I'm thinking it's a problem with the wiper controller...

Can anyone tell me exactly where the wiper controller is located? Is it on the motor assembly, or hidden away somewhere else?

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like the control arm is bad. I don't think it is the motor - I think it is the multi-function lever.

"multi-function lever"? are you referring to the wiper control switch mounted on the steering column? If so, I already took that off, and tested it; it seems to be working fine.

Yes that was my thought. Then how about the Relay module? I don't think it would be the motor.

Where's that at? I couldn't find any relay for the wipers in the engine compartment relay box... is it tucked away somewhere that you need 3 elbows to get to?

to me it sounds like you have a short wire that is messing up the wiper relay

That's a possibility, too... but to find out for sure, I gotta find the bleedin' relay itself!

I think relay is located inside the wiper motor
