2000 Jimmy SLE: starting problems

The Jimmy would not start twice. The key was turned and nothing would happen. Sometimes the head lights would go on when turned on, sometimes not. Today, I took the battery and had it checked. The battery is good. I cleaned the connections to the battery and purchased a new bolt for the cable to attach the battery. Started right up. But now, when the key is in the ignition, the l;ights are on and the panel light is on, the dinging sound for the key continues to ding. When I turn off the panel dimmer switch, the dinging stops. The dinging is not present when the engine is running, only when the key is in the ignition and when the key is out of the ingnition with the panel light on with the headlamps on. Could that have been draining the battery? And how do I troubleshoot. I have checked all of the fuses (inside the Jimmy), all are good. HELP!!!!

Re: 2000 Jimmy SLE: starting problems

Just a crazy idea but you might have a bad door switch, you know the one that turns the interior lights on and off when you open and close the door. If it thinks the door is open then the chime will sound if the key is in the ignition, the lights shut off after awhile but it could still drain your battery. I know because I have had my battery drained while detailing my car, much like it did yesterday. As for the no start issue, there are alot of things that could cause this, but since it stopped after cleaning the connections I would guess bad connection wasthe cause. I would check the fuel pressure if it happens again and see if your pump is going bad, or maybe the relay.
