Rust Problems????
First of all, forgive me - I'm not a big car buff or anything - and I'm sure I don't know all the right terms.
Anyways, I purchased my Tucson in July of this year and have recently noticed a lot of rust inside my rear wheels. I took it into the dealership and was told this is completely normal for the vehicle - and that it will not cause any problems. Now, I may be a little under-informed when it comes to cars, but I've never known rust to be an OK thing. This is not on the tires or rims themselves, but on the part of the car that the tires are bolted onto. Maybe this is called the Rotors?? Anyhow - I'm curious if this is normal and ok, or if this guy just doesn't want to bother with replacement of the rusted parts... Any info appreciated!! Emms |

Re: Rust Problems????
Rust on brake rotors is normal, as long as it isn't where the pad meets the rotor. There will be a small rust ring around the outside of the rotor, and on the hub part of it as well.

Re: Re: Rust Problems????
Should I watch for flaking or anything? Or just assume that all is well?
I have no idea where the pad is at, but I'm assuming that I cannot see it from looking at the outside of the vehicle - The rust doesn't appear to go beyond my line of sight. It's just the outside surface area. Thanks for the response! Emms |
