ZC CRX Advice..where next?
Hey guys. It's been a while. Last time I posted on autmotiveforums.com I think I was scraping for just a little bit of cash to put a new engine in my CRX. I am now in slight better shape, and beginning my second year in the army. Here's my dilemna..
I put a ZC in my CRX- bought it off a buddy of a buddy basically, who was a mechanic, that did the work..but never installed it, as he got into Chevy's again. The ZC specs are in my signature.. That's about all I can recall off of my head. The engine is sitting in my 91' CRX DX back home, all bolted up, awaiting a new ECU, and new radiator, before I can see if it'll even run. It turns over, but the ECU I had bought was a dud. It's basically in OK condition. I was going to turbocharge it, with a small amount of boost (I wanted like, 6-8 lbs of boost with AEM EMS, possibly)..due to the fairly high comp pistons. I figured it'd be a pretty damn nice setup. The issue here though, is that setup was created with an average amount of money available..it was the best setup I could afford at the time. Me being the car junky I am, I always want more. I am now on active duty, and am not paying rent, or basically any bills with the exception of one or two small ones. I have been wondering whether I should contemplate selling the whole CRX project, just the engine, or what. I have always wanted to build a fully built from scratch engine that would dominate when on boost. Now that I have the capabilities (granted it'd take a while..)..should I? I guess the issue is, I don't know many people who would buy an engine, and personally go over to remove it and take it home. I am not able to be there, so I have my family back home to accept the money but that's about it. Keep the ZC, maybe build a second (tougher..sleeved) ZC block, or just start from scratch? I apologize for taking everyones time..but I have been wondering about this a lot recently so I'm curious what you all have to say. Later everyone..

Re: ZC CRX Advice..where next?
so you asking us if you should build a motor from scratch up?...its always best to build a motor from the ground up long as everything is done right...its to bad you didnt know what you wanted to build...a lot of people usually build up b20 and i have a lot of those parts on ebay right now...I just gave up the project and gonna go another way...in the future I probably be dropping in a k series motor in my rex once everything all said and done...so need to tell us a lil more and what your goals are in building it.
