Fuel guage

Hi,

Ive been doing some work lately on my gf's Escort (yeah wrong forum, but over in the escort thread they arent that helpful). Her fuel gauge doesnt work, so i replaced the sending unit (PITA, gas everywhere, probably high for a week on the fumes...) and it still doesnt work. I followed the resistance all the way up to the fuel guage. Acutally removed the fuel gauge and noticed it was very stiff compared to the other gauges in her cluster.

im just wondering if there is anyway to fix it, or if not what the price range of a new one would cost, say for a grand prix, and ill assume its similar.

Thanks in advance

Steve

Re: Fuel guage

If you think the guage is bad you can purchase a whole cluster for less than $50 from a wrecking yard. Remove the guage and replace it in the one in the car or replace the entire assembly. Simplest and cheapest way to do this repair.

Re: Fuel guage

See if you can find a cluster in a junk yard (there's lots of Escorts in them... )
