Re: Friend just bought a mustang..Power?

The 99-00 V6 made 190hp at the crank. The V6 owners that end up making the high hp numbers normally scrap the stock engine and go with the V6 out of the F150. Matthew Neuharth made 587 RWHP and 601 RWTQ on his 4.2 stroker 1995 Turboed V6 running 27 PSI run on race gas back in 02. I don’t know if anyone has beaten that yet or not.

Im pretty sure it has a cold air intake and a flowmaster exhaust system...i think the whole system...i know the cold air intake will make about 10HP....but what would a flowmaster system make?

Re: Friend just bought a mustang..Power?

Maybe 200 at the crank. The exhaust system on the V6 is not all that great and without going to a aftermarket H pipe I don’t see gains being all that much for just weld in mufflers. A lot of the “duel” exhaust systems I have seen on the V6 don’t have good welds. If your friend has plans to do more to the exhaust I would suggest getting one of these http://store.cal-mustang.com/showdetl-7-7987-20-0.html

Re: Friend just bought a mustang..Power?

Good luck finding a CAI that gives a 10hp increase.

With a CAI and catback, even w/ an h-pipe, you won't see 10bhp, not to mention rwhp. It will probly be a good, reliable car. The pro and con question on this car could better be stated as "stick or auto."

Re: Friend just bought a mustang..Power?

yea u would get over 10 rwhp from catback and CAI. there r dyno sheets that prove 99-04 v6's get anywhere from 7-8 rwhp per bolt on. some mazagine put on CAI,UDP's, and catback and got 24 rwhp.

i remember i did mine about the same time. very little difference on the exhaust and no driving difference on the CAI. i would have noticed 15rwhp. That 24rwhp may not have been at peek, they could have made scattered gains throughout the band. If hp came that easy, then i would have never bought my GT.

I also remember MM&FF dropping a K&N on a Mach 1 auto and gaining 23rwhp and 17 peak rwhp. But then again i don't believe everything.
