Red face 96 jetta alarm on wont start

1996 jetta manuel trans. I removed the left rear door lock two days ago. now the horn is honking and lights are flashing and it will not run. I reconected the vacume line on the door latch and it started but stalled and will not start now. Is low voltage in the batter a trigger for the alarm or how do I disconnect it to get the car to run. Help

that happended to my jetta to. for the car to start u have to unlock the door with the key from the outside. just pulling up on the latch wont disangage the alarm. If you unlock the door from the outside with the key the car should start.

Re: 96 jetta alarm on wont start

Check out some of the older threads. Boschmann describes how to take care of the problem.

how i fixed it

It was low voltage that aparently set off the alarm and lights. The rectifier in the alternator was bad. I had the alternator rebuilt and charged the battery . Everything works fine now. Thanks for the help
