Theres 3 bolts that are along the bottom of your bumper which are there for your plastic shield to stop water, dirt, etc from getting up into your engine. Take those out.

Next unscrew the 4 screws in your wheel well (2 on each side).

Then take out both of your bumper signal bolts and pull out your bumper signals, look into the hole where your signals were and youll see 2 bolts, (again theres 4 bolts, 2 on each side) connecting the bumper to the body, take those out and thats it.

The bumper will still sit on the car because theres 2 clips on each side so you hafta lift and pull the bumper away from the clips and it should pop out.

If this confuses you just check out this PDF file from wingswest:

Dude, on the Hatchback there are no bolts behind the Corner Lenses that need to be taken off. Someone told me this a while ago and I ended up hacking off bolts that had nothing to do with the bumper. I believe the bolts behind the Corners is for the CRX, but since our Hatches have a front filler panel we don't need to do that.

Basically all you do is...

-Unscrew the 2 screws in each fender well, 2 in each well, 4 total

-Undo the bolts holding the bottom of the bumper to the body, but don't mess with the one in the center, that has nothing to do with anything, I tried hacking that off to when it doesn't hold the bumper on anyway.

-Unscrew the bumper lenses and pull them out, behind each one is two stacked bolts, undo those bolts.

-Now pull on the sides of the bumper to get it off those rails, now the bumper should fall off, so make sure it support it so you don't break anything.

And to fit a grill either buy a specially made on, or just get some cutter guards, cut them to about the correct size, then fold the bottom under neath the area near the bottom of the bumper inside, you will see what I mean, then wrap the rest over the top, then just use some screws to hold it in.

Well for my 89 Hatch they are correct. I've taken off my bumper tons of times and I there is nothing behind my corner lights. And considering his is an 88 I would assume his is more like mine than yours.
