static
How can you control static electricity in a vehicle? I've seen cars w/ strips hanging down under but I don't know what they are or if they work.

Re: static
The drag strips only work for controlling static discharge for sensitive/radio equipment. If you are tired of being zapped when you step out of the truck:
Dissolve 1 Oz. generic liquid fabric softener to 8 Oz. plain old water. Put this into a flower mister/spray bottle with a trigger. Set it for a fine mist. Two or three sprays against the seats and the interior will control static up to a week. |

That makes sense. When I owned my old Buick I got tired of getting shocked every blasted day when I left or came home from work(have a metal gate I have to open every time I go in or out). I used to buy an anti static spray to help control the shocks. Will try that if I get another cloth covered car/truck.

Shoot, I don't even think about it anymore. I noticed a long time ago that I had started unconsicously putting my arm up and touching the A-pillar every time I get out of my Blazer (come to think of it, I think I might be doing that with EVERY vehicle I exit) so it will go ahead and shock me and get it over with. No kidding, I'm serious. I guess my subconsious decided that if I'm gonna get lit up, it's gonna be on my own terms.

Re: static
The other option is to hold the door frame to ground yourself as you're exiting the car..
