02 stratus w/2.4l

Hello everyone, My daughter is looking at purchasing an 03 stratus with the 2.4L engine. Has this been a reliable vehicle? How have the the engine and tranny held up. She will be taking out a 5 year loan on this particular car and it would give us some peace of mind to know if the car will last fairly trouble free at least through the loan period. The car in ? has about 55,000 on it now Thanks for your replies!

I don't know of any longevity problems with these cars. I've got a '99 and an '01, both with the 2.4 engines. The '99 has 90k on it, and will outrun the '01. But the '01 drives better, it's longer and rides a little better. Taken care of, these cars will last a long time.....

If she buys it, and wants a 4 Disc CD changer setup, let me know. I bought one for my '01, then found out the wiring is different between the '01 and later models. I'll sell it cheap!!

Thanks for the reply Turbo, She did purchase the car. Hopefully it will last her several years. I'll take care of the service end of it, that way I know its being done right. What type of stereo are you looking to sell? She might be interested. The car is an 02.

I've got a 4 Disc Changer out of an '02 Stratus, it comes with the AM/Fm Cassette stero to control it. The cd changer bolts in below where the storage area is. I've got $100.00 in both pieces, would like to get my money back..... I've also got the front cover plate for the changer. If you're interested, let me know.
