Gas Cap Thing
I have a 98 Lincoln Continental. I know there are alot of problems but I still love it but have a problem. Last week the when I popped open the gas door (button drive door to pop) A little piece of metal fell off and it no longer works I have to go drunk and manuelly over ride it! Are there any ideas. Also I got new brakes about 2 months ago they still sqek my old ones did too so I got them replaced and the meachanic told me thatthey were not even fully warn? Issue 1 is more pressing please Responding

Re: Gas Cap Thing
Your mechanic's not being truthfull with you. New brakes, when installed properly wont squeak, period. Tell the guy to do it right this time, and keep going back till he does.
Your fuel cap problem: Are you saying the button assembly fell apart, or the latch mechanism on the fuel door lost a part?

Yep, that was the spring. Some cars have those made of plastic Get one from a junkyard or Dealer. The Dealer may have to order it but I'll bet it's around $1 Greased to brakes !! That's scary
