Re: explain the zetec

Up to 2003, the Focus came with two engines, either the 110hp SOHC SPI engine, or the 130hp DOHC Zetec. The Zetec came standard in all the hatchbacks, and as an option in the sedans. The SVT was always made with a Zetec, and also came with a 6 speed. It is much easier to find aftermarket parts and support, especilly in America, for the Zetec...for S/C gains, do a search...that topic has come up many times before.

while the standard zetec is rated at 130hp, the high output version found in the SVT version is rated 170hp@7000 rpm.there are a host of differences in the svt engine that makes it stand out from the standard version.such as enlarged intake ports, higher compression ratio, forged rods, oil jets in the cylinders to aid in high rpm lubrication, and variable intake cam timing.i owned one for about a year, was fun to drive but gave it up for some V8 muscle.

Yep, up to 03, when the Zetec was dropped and replaced with the Duratec...even more power, enough to almost keep up with an SVT.

Re: explain the zetec

With a normal zetec engine w/ a good short ram intake and a good muffler system what type of hp could i expect out of that beast?

he said a muffler system thats an axle-back not a cat-back

it would take a good header, intake and catback to break 120(maybe even a pully

I have intake, PCM and UDP im HOPEING for a 120, and i got 116 w/ the intake and PCM, 108 w/ just the intake.

Re: explain the zetec

for power ratings check out www.focussport.com they have basicly all the mods you could want and they have dyno charts to show the increases each part gives (according to most of their charts a stock Zetec puts about 110-112 to the ground) but it depends on engine break in and milage, how it's been driven etc etc

Re: explain the zetec

thats THERE focus, temp, humidity, PCM calibration code, any flaws in the drivetrain. Even the load on the dyno can make a large diff. that same car can dyno 5 lower or 3 higher on a different dyno.

Re: explain the zetec

but i like optimistic, and i assume he would be meaning more like flywheel hp aka take the hp gain at the wheels and just add it to the stock hp, so you'd be lookin at somthing closer to 135-140 ish depending on condition and which parts (You should use a full exhaust and not just a bolt on mufler) a bolt on muffler just makes more noise as a full exhaust does that and givs you more than 1 additional hp lol tis worth the money
