I have searched through this forum and have not found any threads on this.
Has anyone here had a custom turbo or supercharger built for there LS?
And last question>
Has anyone found a big brake kit besides Brembo for a 2000 LS?
Thanks.......

Re: Turbos

Stoptech makes (made?) a kit for the LS. It's about $4k for the brake kit, plus you'll need 18" wheels and tires.

Seems like I heard a story about a guy running remote turbo in the rear bumper of an LS. Can't confirm that, though.

Quik LS is prototyping a blower as we speak.

@quick ls

I would like to hear of your progress on a blower system!

I am in the process of having a custom turbo designed, I wanted to see if anyone has already had this done.

Well - I'm getting close....

Have odds and ends to finish up and then tune.
- air tube
- vacuum lines
- lower rad hose
- boost gauge
- belt

Re: Turbos

on the turbo - you're gonna have the same issues that many of the turbo kits are starting to have with these modern sedans - no room under the hood.

since the car is already running 10.55:1 compression you are not going to use must boost - and getting to the exhaust manifold it tough.

A guy did do a whole turbo setup and tucked it under the rear bumper - but had issues and removed it all.

I wish you luck - the more folks trying these things - the more market it will create.

Tuning is the key - how are you planning to tune?

As Chris stated above, StopTech makes a big brake kit for the starting at $2600.

Re: Re: Turbos

thanks for all the answers!
@quick LS
I am finding that room is diffenitly an issue here. The bigger issue is software! We have thought about running a single T with low boost to create around 50hp to keep this system from fighting us.
I have seen other rear turbo setups that ended up being something to laugh about at the bar later. We all would love the 3 second lag and spooling out on your opponets car when you already gone and he wishes he was in your car (or he is not a sleeper nos puffin 500hp Soy Burner).

I would enjoy looking into your blower setup more. Is it procharger based? Any hood clearance issues?

I am stumped that there is not more of a following for this car with aftermarket performance.

Last has anyone considered engine swap on these?

Xcadia, have you considered either a programable piggy-back fuel management system such as GReddy e-Manage or stand-alones like DTA and EMS?? I've used both the GReddy (w/stock ECU) and EMS stand-alone in my past car with much success boosting up to 28lbs. DTA and EMS are far more stable for high boost being as they replace your ECU altogether. I don't know much about the LS V8 just yet, as I come from a 4-banger high perfomance background. Really, I'm happy with the V8's power and probably will not get into highly modifying the powerplant. I've learned ... too derned $$$$$!

@lead foot
Yes we have researched piggy backing this setup. But with these systems they will fight almost everything we do.

If you come across any info.. please send it here..

Even with street tuners we look for 90 models to keep from dealing with this.

I am hoping that others have passed these passages before on a LS and can send me the map!

It's a M90 Eaton - using standard T-Bird SuperCoupe parts. One of the reasons we went this direction is that there is an aftermarket of these parts -> http://www.magnumpowers.com/sc_idx.html for example. Quick, easy, cheap bolt-ons for more power.

It's actually lower than the stock intake - so no hood clearance issues at all.

on the aftermarket - the engine was only used in the T-Bird and LS - not enough owners of $40k+ cars are looking to modify to make parts viable.

the engine swap is a major issue. modifying the PCM to manage a new engine would be next to impossible, while trying to match a standalone engine management system into the databus of the LS would be very difficult. Can you put another engine in it - sure (the OLOA LS had a Roush 4.6 SC) but to make your gauges work, ...etc is the challenge.

As more new Fords come out using the newer PCM - the more likely this becomes.

If your running the 3.0L duratec engine, then www.arizonadynochip.com could probably build you a kit since they already build turbo kits for the ford contour/mercury cougar 2.5L and 3.0L duratec motors. Im running the T3/T4 kit on my Contour and love it.

nope - the issue is that the LS PCM was the first Ford with the next gen PCM - now the F150, Mustang, ...etc use it as well.

The key is tuning, and tuning the new PCM can only be done using SCT's Advantage software. If the shop is an SCT dealer and familiar with the LS - you 'should' be able to do anything.
