Cataltic converter

i live in oklahoma and we have no vehicle inspections so i am wanting to gut my cat to free up some back pressure and run a larger piping i have a 2001 and i am wondering if this will make my check engine light come on ?

Don't bother! The cat is not the restricting factor on the exhaust until you need a 3" exhaust. Tests on modern cats dictate that you lose only about 2-3hp with a cat. Unless you have a monster motor built then buy a bigger cat. Don't go stinking up my air!

I agree.

And theres no need for 3" piping unless you have a crazy turbo!! you'll only lose power...

I used 3" all though mine and it made a big difference.
Then again i brought it with 4...yes thats right 4 mufflers already on it so anything had to better then that.
It had the Cat first, then one right after it, one just as it went over the back axle then the very back one at the bumper.
Overkill if you ask me
