Replacing lower ball joint front hub in a 95 regal

Hi everyone,
I am going to have to replace my right front lower ball joint and my front hub assembly on my 95 regal. I could not find the instructions to replace the ball joint only in the factory service manual. I do see the manual mentioned removing theball joint in the instruction on how to remove the strut assembly. Could you please tell me if it is neccessary for me to remove the strut assembly in order to remove and replace the ball joint?. Thanks in advance for all your help. Andy
