Difficulty with Starting

I have an 1995 F-350 7.5 Liter (460 cu.in). Recently, when the truck sits overnight, it is very difficult to start in the morning. It cranks and cranks as though not getting fuel. After 4-8 attempts (cranking and then recycycling the ignition) it starts and runs fine. It starts without any problem and runs fine the rest of the day. I am guessing the fuel pressure regulator?

Re: Difficulty with Starting

Get a fuel pressure gauge on it on the cold start and see if fuel pressure is up to specs.\
How is the tune up end? Plugs fuel filter air filter?
Any codes or check engine lights?

Re: Re: Difficulty with Starting

Fuel Filter has been recently changed. Truck was running fine up til this week. Do you know what the pressures are supposed to be? Since the truck runs fine otherwise and I can hear the fuel pump cycle everytime the ignition switch is cycled, I presume the fuel pump is working properly. My original thought is that the fuel pressure regulator might be sticking and allowing the pressure to bleed down when the motor is cold, but operating normally when warm or hot? Thoughts?

Engine running 28/45 and KOEO 35/45 fuel pressure.
Watch for fast leak down and pull vacume line off reg and check for gas in line.

Re: Difficulty with Starting

To add
It is normal for fuel pressure to bled down overnight.
But should bounce back up with key on prime. Sometimes it helps th flip key on then off and then back on to give it a extra prime.
Hook the gauge up before you start it cold and watch the gauge and see if it comes up to full pressure.
And keep your foot off the gas pedal. If you touch it it will blow your pcm's mind.
