2001 up/down idle only when cold?

Idles up/down no higher than normal but much lower and once
it died,, if driven at this point revining the engine its OK?
About 1/2 mile its OK at idle?

Could be a sticky idle air control valve, or the start of the 1999+ intake isolator bolt vacuum leak. With no lean codes (or any codes for that matter), I'd look at the IAC valve if it persists.
