What to look for when buying a 1996 Pontiac Sunfire GT??

Hi ..

i am looking to buy a 1996 Pontiac Sunfire GT Couple... 2DR 2.4L...

it currently has 85k miles.

I intend to send it to the dealer to check the car out, but is there any important issues about this car that i need to pay extra attention to?

I also know that there have been recalls for this car... is it a cause for concern?

Thanks

make sure the timing chain is in good condition, if it goes out you're looking at some $$$ there. Get all the recalls checked out, ESPECIALLY the computer leak issue. it stops the car dead in its tracks, then you get to buy a new computer.

What's the computer leak issue. I just bought a 96 and so far I'm very happy with it. If there is an issue with the car dying out and I can check it before it happens, I'd like to know about it.

I guess the computer leaked on some of the 96 models. Someof the computers had a bad seal and would leak. thus toasting the computer and making the car either run like crap or just die.

Im not sure what year this concerns, but someone in the past has mentioned a bad trunk leak. The rear tires will throw water into the trunk lining because of a fault seal or something. Can't find the article either.
