4th Gen Mirror

So November 1st (the day after Halloween ) I go out to my car to find that somebody decided it would be funny to smash my driver side door's mirror. Ha... Ha... very funny, so now I am trying to find a new one because they broke the case (the black piece that everything goes in) and the actual mirror. The only problem so far is that no one carrys a manual mirror, they are all power mirror's. So what are your guys suggestions to find a new one. I have checked ebay (all power mirrors), carpartswholesale, gmpartsdirect.

Also how hard will this be to switch out, I took the cover on the inside out and it just looks like it just bolts in? What would happen if I cant find a manual mirror and just put a electric one in (without even trying to make it powered)?

Thanks

Re: 4th Gen Mirror

So how does the speaker setup work with the mirror's? Also kendallautoparts site says

Cable, (L)
Manual, (R)

So the L is left (ie drivers door) and its classified as cable because of the little joystick (I know, little joystick) thing that lets you adjust it from inside the car?

blownalcoholboy- would the repo be the complete mirror, and how much is the estimated cost

Re: 4th Gen Mirror

Oh, my bad. I skim read it and thought you had power mirrors but the speakers play a part cause they are wires into the same circuit as the power mirror switch and therefor have different harness clips. I will find you a manual one then. One sec

Re: 4th Gen Mirror

What year and do you mean the inside trim covers for the mirror nuts ? or the rear view mirror cover? and if your talking about a 4th Gen they are always charcoal no matter what color your other trim is.

Re: 4th Gen Mirror

Its a 98 and i think its called a sail panel? also... its for manual mirrors, basically my problem is that the mirror is uncontrollable, and moves on it own because the lever has been separate due to the fact the clips and screws have been pulled through the sail panel, and if that didnt confuse you, im glad, cause now im confused

Re: 4th Gen Mirror

Well I finnaly found a junk yard with a 4th gen Camaro near my house (about 45min away) I was able to get the mirror off a teal 95 Maro. I also got some black spraypaint and have sprayed it twice and I will be putting a clearcoat over it. It looks pretty good for the $40 it cost.

I also found a perfect hood, already painted white that hopefully I can pick up on Friday. Talk about luck this is the first junkyard that has a 4th gen, it actually has two a white 93 or 94 with the 3.4L and the 95 teal convertable with the 3.8l.
