Has anyone replaced their exhaust system with something a little more high-performance? Does anyone make a complete CAT back system (like Corsa for example) to fit a 95-99 Riviera?
I really liked the Dynomax super-turbos I had on my Eldorado with the Northstar V8, but wondering what really sounds nice on a 3.8L like this?

Re: Exhaust upgrades available?
there are no aftermarket performance parts specifically for the riv.. you have to see if parts from other gm models w/ a 3800 sc like a gp, bonneville etc can be made to work.. if you have stock tubular exh manifolds (non cast iron) you really wont gain much hp by switching to headers for the $$.. best bet is to go to an exh shop and have them replace the restrictive resonator pipe after the conv. w/ a straight pipe for starters , install 1.6 rockers and a cold air intake w/ a k&n filter

I guess my main concern there is I want performance, but it needs to sound good too. Not too loud when your'e cruising, but a nice roar when you stand on it is good! ![]() So on the rockers... Is there 1.5 on there stock? What do a set of 1.6s go for, and what is the gain in HP?

The reason I thought of this again is a fantastic sounding Dodge Viper roared along side me on the way home from work yesterday. Man, did that sound nice! Not that my 3.8L would ever sound like that huge V-10, but I'd like it to have a nice raspy snarl when I get on it. I'm not sure if this would affect my emissions either. I have to have it inspected when I get my registration and plates, so I'll probably wait till after that at least.

Re: Exhaust upgrades available?
it wont effect your emmisions readings by removing the resonator.. my buddy did the upgrades on his 2000 monte carlo and it sounded great not too loud or phony sounding like a flow master, just right.. he also installed a slp cold air intake

Thanks! Now if that stupid title transfer and inspection notice would ever come... Three weeks and still don't have it. Our DMV system thru the mail is sooooo slow! I should have just paid the extra $5 and did it at one of the service centers... I just think that is such a rip-off, that you have to pay extra to take time out of your day and go stand in line for an hour! |
