I was wondering if anyone knew what the curb weight is of a base model cobalt is, and if anyone knows the weight of the hood?

dude, pop "curb weight cobalt" into google and go through the list to find what you need, it's not complicated.

As for the hood, unless anyone has weighed their own, I doubt this will be easy to find. Call the dealer and ask if they have that kind of information or if they could get it for you.

Which brings me to my next question, what the heck do you need the weight of the hood for?

Re: Curb Weight

The stock hood weighs around 32-35 pounds. The carbon fiber hood I have on the car you see in my avatar weighs around 15 pounds. So yes, there is a difference. But will it make a difference on a 145 hp car? No.

You'd have to take off around 200 pounds to even notice a difference at all dude. The reason I got mine is for style, and extra engine cooling. Not weight reduction.

Re: Curb Weight

Hey bulldog no new kills or deaths? And btw i thought the base model was 150hp? My cavy was 145hp and the new colbalt has a little more. And like bulldog said the hood wont make much of a differnce. Now if u want a differnce do this....
1. Carbon fiber (anything everything possible I.E hood, trunk, body kit etc etc.) U can get the hood and trunk at www.rsmracing.com
2. Buy ONE racing seat. Ull see why.
3. Pull out the spare tire, back seat, front seats, and put the one racing seat for yourself. That would make a bit of a differnce.

First off your car is probably not fast enough at the track to need to take off the governer. Second if your car IS that fast than u would no how to talk it off. Word of advice dont ask questions like that usually no one answers them nicely.
