03/04 Cobra SC Question

Quick question on the SC Cobras.

I often hear about Cobras with Eaton SCs, Kenne Bell SCs, and Whiple SCs...so my question is, when you bought an 03/04 Cobra, were you given a choice of SC to put on from the factory, or are those all just SC swaps from the factory SC?

Re: 03/04 Cobra SC Question

The Eaton is the only only SC ford installs on the Lightning, Cobra, or GT

When you hear of people with Kenne Bell superchargers and such those are aftermarket installs just like installing a vortech on another year Mustang. The reason they go with an aftermarket supercharger is because the stock one can only make so much psi and volume of air before it reaches its limits. For most people you'll never need to change the stock SC to something else, just get a smaller pulley for it.

Re: 03/04 Cobra SC Question

the GT actually uses a loystrum (sorry i don't know how it's spelt) and it was going to be used on the GT500 but the supplier couldnt meet the demands required for that, so they just went with a roots on the GT500

Re: 03/04 Cobra SC Question

It's called a Lysholm, and no the GT500's are not using a roots blower. They get a twin screw.

No SVT dropped the twin screw a long time ago and will be going with an Eaton.

The 06 Ford GT500 will utilize a new larger displacement Eaton 120 (2 liter) to handle the 450HP, instead of the 2.3 Lysholm. Reason: Ford chose to keep the Mustang's power level below the Ford GT and felt the HP was adequate, so the more efficient Twin Screw was not necessary...
