Interior Bulb Replacement... Blue!

I was wondering, the 2 bulbs that light up when a door is open that are located under the dash on the driver & passenger side... What type of bulbs those are... I wanna replace the OEM white with some blue... some 'pizahz' to the interior... Also it'd be nice if I could replace the dome light on top along with those so it'd all match

I just wanna replace the bulbs and not have to go deep into wiring like.. a little tube mount somewhere or rig up some blue LEDs with resistors cause the voltage is to high

I know its one of the small ones Here I think one of the 194 bulbs... if it is 194.. Ill just get the Blue LED... *last longer & brighter*
Or! I could just buy a can of this Stuff ha... I think it'd be so cheap of a paint job

99' Grand AmSE

Edit: I just found out, they are the 194 Bulbs Woo... Now I Just need to find out what the top dome light is and Im set

Re: Interior Bulb Replacement... Blue!

hey Gir, i was doing the colored lights thing a while back. The paint and most colourd bulbs suck. Leds are great because the colours are more solid, but do require some wiring/soldering. I ended up using the silicon gels that cover the bulbs, easy as pie to install. The window/lock buttons in the doors uses a thin gel over a clear bulb. Pulled that off and cover'd with part of a gel. Most places, the zone and advance hav the gels, I dont remember what the cost, probley cheaper than leds but more expensive than cheap painted bulbs. I mean think a minute, its glass, not alot sticks to glass essp when it gets hot.

194's have been a commen bulb used on severaal years of cars. the 194 w/leds might be a really nice colour, hadnt seen them before.. The dome bulbs do look cheaply painted(chips off), but the silicon gels are heat restistant pretty much and the colour is a darker blue(the ones i used from the zone).I hav tried to change all the dash to blue also but its complicated to replace the shit load of leds they used. I couldnt find the liquid gel the factory uses, most people didnt even know what the hell i was talking about.

haha well.. I was just thinking simple 2 LED install under the dash board... it doesnt have to be anything fancy... just want a cheap alternative that doesnt require paint on glass... Let me know if you find any diff colored bulbs/LEDs for the Dome Light... Doesnt matter to me if its bright or not.. just the color blue

the main dome lamp is a 212-2. Advance auto, and probably Zone also, sell both the 194's and 211-2's in a blue and red. They run $2-$3 a pair. IF your car is equipped with the reading lamps, they use a 194 also.
