Mitsubishi 2.7

Hi Forum; I am considering buying a 1987 2.7 Are these motors reliable? Do they have head gasket problems? Do they get descent gas mileage? Thank you.

Thanks for the reply. Chrys. uses 3 or 4 different 4 cyl. motors in c/v,the Mitsubishi 2.7 is just one of them. I was just asking if anyone had owned one, and what experience they had with their's?

Re: Mitsubishi 2.7

They used a 2.6l iron block/aluminum head 4-cyl for a "upgrade" option for a few years in the early days.
It had 3 valves (2 intake) per cylinder and a Hemi combustion chamber. It was 99hp with a 2-bbl carburetor and 8.7:1 compression ratio. If you are buying a '87 vehicle, I find your reliability questions not very relevant. The 2.6l was part of the MCA Jet series from Mitsu and has a reputation of being totally wore out by about 100K miles.
