I have a 88 jeep Limited. My temp was about the same.
But my overflow resevoir blew a crack in it.
I changed out my thermostat and it ran about 15 degrees cooler.
I drive about 90 miles a day also ,usually at the end of a Hot Day
It about 210 degrees...
As for the 4x4 prob, I am new to this area I went from the import racing to the 4x4 stuff.
Could be a bent linkage underneath.
I dunno. I need to get under mine to see how it is all set up.
Im sorry if might not have been to much help. good luck with it..

190 to 210 is pretty much normal.

If your jeep is in 2WD it should not hurt anything to drive it that way. I have an 89 where the transfer case will not shift into any other gear but 2wd. The problem with your transfer case is probably some gears in the trans case. Had the same problem on another cherokee and I had to swap the transfer case.

Re: overheating ?

yea my 96 cherokee runs between about 205 and 220. sitting at idle with a scanner on it it got up to 219 when the electric fan came on and brought it back to about 212. i've never had a problem and and it never got over 220, and it never gets that hot while its moving. the t-case issue is ok if its stuck in 2WD and you dont care about having 4WD. if its stuck on 4, youll put extra wear on everything, like the t-case, u-joints, shafts, front differential, and tight turns are hard on the tires and all the hardware and linkage and what not if one or more of the wheels cant slip at all.
