Question Question about getting Subs....

Im getting some mixed answers from people i know but when i eventually get subs am i going to need to get a new headunit also? some of my firends say you do some say that they will just wire it to your factory headunit that you have, id really like not to get one and save the money.

Also One more thing, my Explorer has a factory 6 disc CD Changer in the console as well and i was just thinking to myself that if i get a new headunit will the changer work with the new headunit somehow???

Re: Question about getting Subs....

no you don't need a new headunit, if you use the stock one then you'll need a line output converter

and no I don't believe the stock changer will work with the aftermarket headunit

Re: Question about getting Subs....

Depends on the quality of the stock stereo. It probably won't be as clean, but it should still sound fine.

Re: Question about getting Subs....

only thing i dont like about stock stereos and subs is that there isnt a sub level adjustment. you can use a remote bass knob to adjust the subs between songs and your moods... but thats not the best way.. i think it sounds shitty cause youre making it more peaky than before.

also, theres no option for a high pass filter. for example, if you want more bass, you cant simply turn your bass up on your stereo and then crank the volume cause the speakers will distort. its tough trying to getr a lot of bass from your subs while being easy on your stock speakers with a stock stereo.

id really would like to get a new headunit but i do not like the idea that i will have a useless 6 disc changer that will no longer work, theres no way that i will be able to use it anymore if a get a new one??

Re: Question about getting Subs....

If you get an mp3 deck you can make a single cd with more songs than 6 regular cds, even with very high quality mp3s.
