yeha, but doenst look as cool... its not all about performance, just mostly, there's also sex appeal that falls into the mix with any DSM. so... what about that spring rate?

40mm is huge. but ok, whatever. Spring rates in wastegates controle minimum boost. get whatever you like.

Re: I need a Wastegate...

I don't like internals on anything over 16G, and I have tried it several times. Every single time I get pissed and swap in the external setup. BUt not everyone plans to max out a turbo as soon as it's installed either, so it all depends on the goals.

Spring size should be chosen so that you can set the boost low enough for pump gas use but on race gas you won't be going over double the spring pressure. I just posted about this in the Performance section, some of the info in that thread may prove helpful.

38mm is fine for almost everyone in a manifold mounted setup. For O2 housing moutned gates it makes more sense to go up a notch.

Re: I need a Wastegate...

alright, now the manifold i want had a 40mm Wastegate flange on it, so, i'm guessing that the 38 wont fit that???
I'm not trying to have anything to crazy! my shit has to drive every day, but i want something that will smoke the hell out of anyone. I'm withing a T04E 50-Trim, with... someone told me 1000cc injectors, but i think thats a bit over kill. i want an e prom and DSMlink... any sugestions on that Kevin?

Re: I need a Wastegate...

Wow, 1000cc is way overkill... I'm gonna run 550cc with my 16g for now and it should be plenty. I could probably even run my stock injectors and be fine if I had to, right guys?

Re: I need a Wastegate...

you can run on stock injectors, just run low boost

DSMLink can control the 1000cc injectors like stockers, so IMO, get them. If you ever plan on upgrading later to a bigger turbo, you won't have to mod twice. On the other hand, if you'll never get a bigger turbo, you won't beed higher than the 800cc area.

Just keep in mind you won't "smoke" everything with that turbo. There will be plenty of cars that will still crap on you, there's always someone faster.

Re: I need a Wastegate...

If you're getting a good deal on the manifold, there are no drawbacks to upgrading to the 40mm gate. With DSMlink, I wouldn't run anything smaller than 950s/1000s.
