Great

I have owned two 90 crx si's and let me tell you they are great little cars. Tons of stuff you can do to them, and even stock they are pretty good. The one I currently drive has had nothing done to it yet(have not had long) and I have already had people come up to me asking if I would sell it.

I guess the best thing I can say is my father was always a American car guy (nothing wrong with that) but after borrowing my cars, well he ended up buying a 89 SI for himself.

Re: crx questions....

I've had my 90 CRX Si for 3 years now and it's been through a lot. From a distance if it looks stock then I'm happy with that. The suspension has been put through a lot and it's a little unforgiving these days but 30mpg is decent for a modded sohc with only 125hp in a 2000lb car.

Bought it (88SI) for 1200 put 3000 fixing suspension/brakes/tires/clutch.
After that it is bulletproof. been driving it for three years and I have been pulled over by the cops just to ask me if I wanna sell it.

I would not sell it. Get one and you will be hooked. Easy to work on and the parts are cheap.

Performance, It is just purfect 30+mpg and just enough power to get you in trouble. I would look at an SI if possible.

Re: crx questions....

I own a CRX DX with a DOHC Swap. The car runs strong and outhandles most other cars on the road. Good gas mileage, great handfling, owning a car that not everyone else has and the potential all add up to a good choice in cars.

Re: crx questions....

They don't come with 130hp, you have to make it by either a substantial amount of performance parts to an mpfi d or swap in a dohc zc or d or b series vtec engine.

Also, a stock crx looks like a 4wd at its stock height so most people lower them. However, if you lower more than 1.5" you'll definitely have camber/tire issues.

My advice is to read a lot about Hondas here on AF and at Honda-Tech.

BTW, it's impossible to say what car a crx is comparable to with 130hp because there are 3 iterations of the crx with different weights. If you add a stereo system = more weight, big rims = more weight, etc. Basically, there are too many variables to give a direct answer. And we've all had experiences where we've beaten a car that should have wiped the street with us because that other car probably was not maintained or the driver sucked...

YOU FUNNY MAN!!

No, I think that statement is a bit outrageous. The CRX at stock height looks sweet. Sure, lowered it will look more stout... meaner looking. But, don't go bustin' on those of us that don't wanna spend hundreds/thousands to lower our rides. Put on a fatter-than-stock set of tires on the swirlies, they look PFG. IMHO.

The CRX is a really good buy. Get the Si if you want to have some fun.

My first one, I put 120K miles on. Sold it with 255K miles. My current REX has 154K miles - no end in site!

Re: crx questions....

You can lower a CRX 1.5" for a few hundred bucks and it'll be decent looking and nice ride as well. I need to post pics of mine.

EDIT: Here is a link to Tokico HP "Blue" struts and springs at a correct matched rate that gives an adequate 1.25" drop or so on sale right now for $389.95... http://store.racinglab.com/ho89ciewamot.html
I may be ordering them...

Re: crx questions....

yeah i got some OBR-X (or whatever) racing coilovers (150 bucks, 80 to install ^-^), lowered it like 2-3 inches, which basically put it just under stock height due to my GSR blades and 60-series tires

bouncy as all hell now, but damn does she handle

Re: crx questions....

with 130hp in a crx it would have to be D series so lets say you have a sohc zc I would say it would be as fast as a bone stock integra LS...maybe im being too generous...
