simple question

i apologize for creating a new thread for this but i was wondering a real simple question. is reseting the computer just as simple as removing the negative battery cable for 15 minutes? i ask this, because i am replacing the cap/rotor soon and in an old post by BlazerLT he stated to reset the computer after replacing these. thanks, and somebody bitch slap me if its that simple.
