SOHC Engine

I heard that the SOHC's with 8.9 compression were not intereferance engines? can anyone vouch for this... I would really like to know... as I am debating over getting the timing belt and all changed... b/c I don't know if it has ever been changed, and with 146k miles, that's really pushinc my luck...

Re: SOHC Engine

I dont really know what you are tlaking about as a nterference engine, but at 140K I would DEFINTATELY change the timing belt, tensioner, waterpump, oil pump and since you are in there the rear main seal.

Re: Re: SOHC Engine

SOHC is non interferance.

The timing belt job is pretty easy on a SOHC.

So, I'm not likely to f'up the heads if I time it wrong... b/c I don't need to sink that much more money into the car right now...

Re: SOHC Engine

Nope. I have seen a few people break there timing belt on the SOHC at high speed and come away with no damage.
