Re: getting illegal skylines?
Read the definitions of a motor vehicle as they conform to FMVSS standards.
It's spelled out in black and white. A vehicle shipped without the engine and transmission (or any parts falling under FMVSS requirements, ie lights, brakes etc) is considered parts. This information coupled with the compliance package G&K submitted to the DOT outlining which items on the car meet FMVSS standards TELLS you what has to be removed from the car to be considered parts. Ship all that other stuff separately. It is,however, illegal to dissassemble, ship, and reassemble as a whole car in an attempt to circumnavigate the regulations. IF you get caught, its your ass. ok, so what if you take out the motor and tranny, get the car over, and get and install the motor and tranny out of a different car? and i mean, what happens if you get caught? I mean like I said, Im not even considering doing this im just wondering about the legal implications of it all and how its done.

If you are going to do that, why bother?

i meant from a different skyline, so technically you are not avoiding the law through technicalities by putting the engien back in.

Re: getting illegal skylines?
When you declare a car as parts, it is parts. It doesn't matter WHAT engine you put back in it. If you make the car a functional, road going car, after you claimed it at as parts to bring it into the country, they are going to string you up by your knobs.
