Cool weather Thump?
I've notice since the weather is colder out in the mornings I hear a thump clunk sound when turning out of parking space in the morning. After I drive a few minutes I don't heard it no more that day which makes it strange. What could it be?

Re: Cool weather Thump?
Struts and shocks tend to make some pretty gruesome noises when they are cold (and old). It could be that, usually not a problem.

Replaced front wheel bearings today. Waited 7 hrs to let everything get cold, its about 40 degrees here today. There was still that clunk clunk noise when turning steering wheel standing still or moving. After about 1/2 mile noise stops. I'am at a lost. Any more ideas? BTW struts are fine. |

Its a 96. The noise comes from the front. Can be felt in the steering whether moving or standing still, brakes on or off. |

Re: Cool weather Thump?
there is a service bulletin for a noise in the steering after cold just turning steering without moving vehicle if this is the issue ask your dealer for billetin # 19-03-97 it requires you to replace the rack and pinion assy but not sure if this is the same problem you are having
