Unhappy Just more problems.

I'm at my breaking point with this thing. I've had it just a little over a year, and already had more problems out of it than all my other vehicles combined.

I got my fuel pump, and everything worked good until tonight.

If I am driving were I can give it steady throttle, it runs like pure crap. Jerks and jumps and won't hardly run at all. Now, if I am going uphill and have to give it some throttle, it never misses a beat. When taking off it does good until the shift light comes on, then it starts stuttering and missing like crazy. When idling it idles smooth as a brand new one.

What in the world could be causing my troubles this time?

Re: Just more problems.

No takers on this one?

It couldn't be much of a problem, I was thinking maybe the fuel pressure regulator may have went out under the pressure of the new pump. It may explain why it runs better uphill where more gas may be needed.

Maybe the computer is going bad.

I think I just got a lemon.

In a year I've replaced the fuel pump twice, a wheel bearing, and had 4-wheel drive problems, and now something new has popped up and I just don't imagine it will stop there.

I had this problem in my wife's Pontiac. The EGR valve was plugged.
Bucked like a wild horse at steady speeds with low loads (levelroad),Idle and acceleration were fine.

Search this forum for EGR Valve, you'll find tips on how to clean or replace it.

Re: Just more problems.

Hmmm..... How about one of the distributor cap bolts had backed back out? I suppose lock tite doesn't always work as good as you think it would.

I had the hood up and the engine running listening for anything out of the ordinary. I hear a weird clicking coming from the area of the distributor cap. So I turn the engine off, and then check to see if it had worked loose, and had it ever. I'm suprised it would even run.

I don't know if that's what my problem is or not, but it could very well be it. Didn't get much chance to work on it this evening, had other plans I couldn't cancel on.
