WRX STi or Lotus Elise?

Different kind of cars, one being a torquey, high HP beast and the other a light and nimble roadster, but which would you choose and why?

The lotus will get a ton more looks but from what I understand if your not a midget its very hard to get in and out of and it has a very loud engine that becomes irritating after a time. Stis are plenty fast though and handle like mad plus the aftermarket for them is better. Its a damn good lookin' car too.

The elise is awsome, "nirvana on four wheels" - Road and Track. not to thick on the practicality side but, who needs that anyway. STi, nice rally car. make u wanna go rally somewhere... by the way, wat was the point of this thread?

I'm looking at both cars for a future choice as to which I want to buy. Just getting opinions. I like fast cars but they have to be able to handle well, both which the STI (or Evo) and the Lotus do.

yeah the elise is a pure race car, however its nothing but a race car. its not a car you want to be driving as a daily driver or probably not even as a weekend car. its a car designed and built for the track. there are no comfort freatures to make the car practical in the least. while i would love to have one, i wouldnt buy one for my primary car or my second car. i think it would make a good third or fourth car next to a lambo or ferarri (ok maybe a little extreme, but you get the point). they may be 30K or whatever they are, but its 30K for something that is strictly a toy. at least with an sti or an evo you can get some practical use of it. while you may have 30 or 35K youre willing to spend, or finance, i would say just by looking at your current car and your location an elise for daily driver or a weekend warrior would be way over the top, THEY HAVE NO PRACTICAL USE OFF OF THE TRACK!

Re: WRX STi or Lotus Elise?

It depends on what you're goin gto use the car for.....if you're going to drag and do rally, then get the STi. If you're going to do auto X and take a lot of hard corners around town, then get the Elise. Either way, i think you'll have a fun, fast little car!!

Re: WRX STi or Lotus Elise?

no, dont get the elise for street racing or whatever, get it if you want to race it at a track, not just auto-x (you can get a miata if you want to do that.)

Re: WRX STi or Lotus Elise?

Miatas are slow as shit! They do handle nicely, but an Elise is WAY out of a Miata's class......

Go with the STi, you won't be dissapointed!

I said for auto-x...
They also aren't slow when you turbo them and in the 1.6 the block is already tapped for a turbo oil-drain

Re: WRX STi or Lotus Elise?

Miata's are slow stock but for how much you can get one for upgrading it for a nice handling quick car isn't that expensive. Mazda cars ingeneral handel quite well from the rx-7 to the miata to the rx-8.

Re: WRX STi or Lotus Elise?

for auto x they'd be a good platform, but as far as a stock miata....i'm not impressed.

Re: WRX STi or Lotus Elise?

obviously with 118-140~hp they're not quick, but as you can see by my link, they take nicely to forced induction.

Go with the STi, you could always upgrade the turbo and such and make it one really fast car.

Of course the STi will handle good, its an AWD rally car. you wont be disappointed with it.
