Our Intrepid acts like it is missing. When going down the road it will act like it is going to die and sputters a little then go on. Then the engine light comes on and then it will go out. It also dies sometimes sitting at a stop light or in traffic. It acts like it is missing but I think something else is wrong. Someone told me it could be the idle sensor. And I have been looking at this site and seen it could be the intake manifold gasket slipping causing a manifold leak. It had a slight whistle to it the other day before we parked it. Can anyone give me any advice on what is causing this and if so how do I go about fixing it myself!

Re: 2001 Intrepid SE
if you hear that slight whistling sound, that means you have a vacuum leak which will cause the misfire you're having. I'm willing to bet that it's your lower intake manifold that is bad, since it bolts up directly to your cylinder heads.
