door latch

I need a little help here.... I have a 1970 Chevelle Convertible, and my door locks were getting stuck, so I opened my door, and greased a few parts, then to loosen it up, I was closing the door latch by hand (not shutting the door), then opening it again using the handle etc... meanwhile locking and unlocking the door.
One of the times I closed the latch, I think I over rotated it or something by 1 click, and now I cannot get the latch to open no matter what I try. (I even took the door panel off, but couldn't find any realease etc...). Is there any way to get this released? Has anybody had a similar problem?
