Hhheeeeellllpppppppppp!!!!!!!!!
I can't believe that I am the first one to encounter this problem....While parked at college my 1990 525i's battery went dead ....the power door lock actuaters don't actuate when I turn the key leaving me with a car that needs to be jumped or charged back up and no way whatsoever of getting into the battery compartment under the hood. I can't believe with all of those german engineers who have done so many things so incredibly right that they would have left this major problem in the design without coming up with a simple (and hopefully cheaper than a locksmith ) workaround that gets either a) my door unlocked or b) my hood opened so I can juice it up and then open my freeking doors?? anyone with any suggestion please please pass it on to me asap my bank account is almost as dead as my battery ...Thank You!! oh and I am not a mechanic but have tools I can use. I saw a post in another area where the guy locked out there was told to "hook up a 12v power source to my trunck light or something like that ...please be real specific and pretend your talking to a 6 yr old thx again I am in the US

Re: Hhheeeeellllpppppppppp!!!!!!!!!
hey there, i ran into the same problem on my 1991 525i. luckly it came with the ski package. this means it has a opening on the center arm rest in the rear seats, so what i did was open the trunk and had my daughter slide in there. once in, i had her open up the hood. once the hood was open, i proceeded to hook up the jumpers to the positve terminal/negative to eng ground since my batery comes under the rear seats. this allowed me to run enough juice to be be to unlock the doors from the inside. last thing i did was give the battery some time to charge and started it right up. note: this will only work if you have that opening . good luck...

Re: Hhheeeeellllpppppppppp!!!!!!!!!
thats funny cuz all you need a metal coat hanger, or a hard wire, make one side into a U shape, and where you see the button on the inside of the car, in that area theres a rod going down the door, and it bends, stick the wire in that area and it will open, but you have to grab the rod with the U part and pull up

Re: Hhheeeeellllpppppppppp!!!!!!!!!
Put your key in the Passenger door lock, and turn it CCW hard (past the first resistance) to the nine o'clock position. This manually unlocks the passenger door. The German engineers didn't over look this scenario. This is in the owners manual, but if you keep that in the glove box.... Of course, I hope by now you have already figured this out!
