Problem on 1986 celica gt

I just bought 1986 Toyota Celica GT. My problem is when i turn "on" the ignition both the radiator fan and the air con condenser fan get started. I've never experience any car with the ignition "ON" both the fans comes on right away, is this normal to a 1986 Toyota Celica?

My radiator fan is always on because the the switch on the thermostat housing has been cut and the harness is fucked now so I cant get it to turn off. It doesn't hurt anything though. As for the ac fan, I dont knoe why it would be on unless your ac switch is shorted out and stuck on or wired directly to the ignition.

Re: Problem on 1986 celica gt

My raditator goes on in my 89 GT. My airconditioning will go to "AUTO" if i attempt to turn it off. Never bothered to figure out how or why it does this. I mean, my headlights turn off immediately when i open my door, i always thought it was another cool feature. Kept the car comfortable anyways. Then again, another case isn't someting i would consider "normal".
