Anyone know what the fuel cutoff is? I have taken mine well above 7k, but dont dare go further.
I am just wondering if the guy before me had anything done to the ecu.

fuel cut-off?
Well my civic is carbeuratted, so it of course has no ECU. So does that mean that I don't have anything to cut my fuel off, and in theory then I can rev my car till the engine breaks? sarujin

I don't know how carbs work like that. But that's what it sounds like to me. I am going to look into it.

from autocrossing my DX from back in the day, I think fuel cut is the same as the Si's up at 7200. It might be 6800 on the DX but I had mine to 7000 several times before so 7200 makes sense as where the rev limiter does it job. I know my friend ITC racecar (aka my old DX) will bounce off the rev limiter in 4th (they have to use 4 speed gear boxes but ratios are outta a Si tranny) at 7200 rpms and it doesn't mind at all it seems. Its only down the back straight at a local track and it happens briefly but still its the fastest way around the course hehe.

Hey Kbslacker, thanks for the link!
I couldn't find an exact answer, but I'm pretty sure my car doesn't have any kindof fuel cutoff!! sarujin

It does however have an ECU. But your right in that it might not have a fuel cut. One of my Ex's used to have an old 15x that would just rev and rev but never hit a limiter. They tend to run out of fuel and air from the carbs before they reach a point where mechanical damage can occure from being over reved. (unlike a B16a or ZC which will happily rev till something breaks. (about 10,000rpm on a stock bottom end for a B16a). But if you really want to check simply stick the car in neutral and floor it. If it gets to about 7,200rpm and starts to miss really badly and wont rev any higher then you have a limiter. IF it simply keeps on reving but starts to sound like its running out of breath and simply dosnt want to go anymore then you dont have a limiter. And you should lift off the gas. Doing it briefly won't hurt anything, but I wouldn't recomend it for any long period of time.
