Crazy electrical problem
This is my first post...I was driving down the interstate one day...55mph 5th gear....car dies with no warning once I check it out i see the engine module fuse is blowing so I replace it...it blows whenever I turn the car over...however it will not blow if your not trying to start the car. There is no aftermarket wiring and I have checked everywhere for shorts whatever is shorting out is big. Also i am getting no spark naturally because the fuse is blowing...i know nothing about electronics i think it might be a bad ecm if anyone has any advice i would appreciate it

Re: Crazy electrical problem
You have a short to ground somewhere, replacing the fuse doesnt do anything, dont put a higher amp rated fuse in there either. I would suggest taking it to a mechanic unless you know how to use a volt meter and read wiring diagrams.

Re: Crazy electrical problem
A 1G ECM can be bought on eBay for $100 and a 2G for $200... I'd check all the wiring that I can, and if it's not outside of the ECM, it might be cheaper just to replace it. ...That's what most mechanics would do around here anyways.
Other than that, you can't hurt anything with a volt meter (just don't lay the metal contact across 2 wires)... Right now might be a good time to learn to read a wiring diagram. PM me if you have any trouble with that.

Re: Re: Re: Crazy electrical problem
on ebay they sell the dsm shop manuals on cd. Those have wiring diagrams. They are simple to follow and cheap. I think mine was $10 shipped.
