piston slap

Ok i know this has been talked about on here a little but i am worried. I here and see on some web sites and people talking about the piston slap is NOT normal. I have it a little on my 2000 trans am. I here if you run synthec oil in it, it will stop. So i will try it and see what happens. Do any of you have this problem to? and is it normal or not?

Oil is not going to stop it.

How bad is yours?? Only right at start up?? For how long??

I don't think you know what piston slap is, do you?

Oil never sees the part of the piston that would slap, only fuel/air/spark/fire see that part. I'm thinkin' you mean lifter tick or the SOHC Chevy V8 equivalent.

Oil might help if it somehow kept a rod bearing from allowing enough movement for the piston to hit the head...though I doubt it.

It only does it when i frist start it up. I was in the chavy silverado fourm because i have a silverado and they had a site about piston slap. And most of them had it and ran synthec oil and a good oil filter in it and it stoped. Do any of you with the ls1 have the piston slap to? or is it just me?
