Scan Tool Recommendations

I am researching what scan tool to buy, to read the trouble codes on my 1997 Hyundai Elantra GLS. I want to buy a scan tool that hooks up to my laptop. I would like recommednations on scan tools and software that people have found to work well for them? Thanks.
