2000 GP GT audio information required....
I am trying to install an aftermarket CD player in to my 2000 Grand Prix GT, how do I determine whether or not I will require an additional wiring harness to keep the factory deck in the car and prevent the air bags from deploying?
It now has a factory AM/FM/CD player with the built in equalizer (I would assume it is a Delco unit) Any help would be greatly appreciated |

You will need a GM harness from in order to wire the new HeadUnit in. I don't think you have to worry about setting off the airbags, unless you have a RDS systems. Howerver, if you have Onstar I believe there is an additional interface you need to use if you want onstar to continue to use your stereo speakers. Same thing for the steering wheel controls. you will need an adapter to keep them http://www.pfyc.com/store/merchant.m...y_Code=GPOTHER |

Thanks for the info.
It is my understanding that on the newer GP’s GM started to run some of the cars electronics thru the factory radio and if you were to install an aftermarket radio this could cause the airbags to malfunction, what I was trying to determine is what year that GM started to implement the new design. |
