Brake problem 1983 300sd. need help
I just replaced the front & rear pad on my 83 300sd. now after I drive about 2 miles the left front brake gets so tight I have to stop. If I bleed that brake I have no brake at. If i bleed the other three no fluid or air will come out. If I let it set over night I have brakes for another 2 miles.
Can anyone help. Do you think this is a vaccum problem? Thanks for any help Ralph |

When you replaced your brake pads. Did you open the bleeder screw to release fluid while pushing brake pads back? or did you just push the pads back and install the new ones? I ask this because sometimes when you do not open the bleeder on an older car you will push fluid and dirt back into master cylinder which can cause it to fail. A vacuum problem with brakes makes for a very hard brake pedal. Is that the case?

Re: Brake problem 1983 300sd. need help
When installing did you clean of the rust and crud from the caliper where the edge metal part of the pads ride? I have seen where a pad will not ride free in the "guide" and bind against the rotor after the caliper piston relaxes.
