Exhaust is bad, now is time to get new one

My Muffler has indeed went to crap and it needs replacing. I've always wanted a loud fartcan but seeing how people get in trouble with the law and how they become too loud, but they still sound awesome in the distance though. I really want an axle back muffler that looks like the original but am willing to get something that is pointed 45 degrees out the rear. What do you call them, I've forgotten? Now, I want something that has a good noticeable sound, but not loud or abnoxious cause I do alot of interstate driving. I'm not really worried about performance here, but instead a small noticeable exhaust tone that will replace my original. Any good and somewhat cheap mufflers out there. I keep hearing that both Dynomax and magnaflow are both really good and they are not very loud. Any suggestions? I'm a complete newb to all this. Oh and I just want to bolt up like my original exhaust, but I'm willing to weld it on personally if not and I do plan on keepin the piping, the cat and resonator all there.

if you want quiet, go with either the apexi WS or a magnaflow muffler.

Well, thought about it for a while and I figured the best solution would be to get a brand new stock exhaust straight from honda since I plan on selling the car here soon. yes it may cost alot more, but most stock mufflers made by the manufacturer themselves last alot longer than generic mufflers. So I called up my local honda dealer and found out something silly. A new Si exhaust (with the double piping on the end) is cheaper than the basic one pipe muffler. The Si one costs about 143 bucks while the basic muffler cost's about 158. The mechanic on the phone couldn't stop laughing cause he couldn't figure it out. I'm going for the si exhaust. It should bolt right to my base hatch, right? I called about the dual tips that go on the si muffler and he quoted me about 35 bucks a piece on each one. I said no, but instead ordered the muffler. Said i was the first guy in 4 years whose ever ordered an si muffler from there for the 4th generation civic.

i would go to summit racing and get a super turbo muffler...its flows better than a lot of junk out there and is almost virutally quiet with a resignator on it....muffler costed me about 35 bucks....compared to your quote 146 bucks

I have a Magnaflow muffler I will let you have for $70, was about $150 and only had on car for a few weeks when it quit.

Nah, I want something stock for now cause right now I'm not certain if I'm going to keep the car after the first of this year. I would like to sell it to a family that is going to take care of it and if they see the receipt of an new stock muffler from honda, then i can raise the price some more. Now if I were to keep the car longer, than I would get the magnaflow muffler. This is what I think will work out.

crap, I'm looking at pictures of the exhaust system from honda and it looks like the si muffler won't fit up to my hatch. Has anyone ever or does anyone know if the si exhaust can bolt right up to my base model hatchback?

You can go to a muffler shop and get a no-name turbo muffler with custom 1.5" or 1.75" stock size pipes bent to stock specs and have the end welded to a flange that bolts up to the existing mid-pipe. I bet it would cost less than a stock set-up from Honda too.

^Thats pretty much what i did but got all 2.25 piping with a "turbo" muffler shop special and the muffler itself sounds like crap with a rasp that pisses me off. im goin for a dynomax 17758,86, or 39 but not sure which one to get they range from 19" - 20" legnths and 380 - 415cfm. I know the 39 can go on a camaro. dynomax says there 17778 super turbo is for the crx with 2.25 in and dual 2" out but shows no cfm rating. Hope this info may help some1, and if possible comments on which to get would help me.

I still have my stock Si exhaust too if you want it. Just pay shipping and you can have it.

my magnaflow is not quiet, i thought it was a flowmaster after they put it on, until i looked under the car and it said magnaflow on it, i got 2" mandrel-bent all the way from the manifold

Well, I bought the si exhaust and I love it. I took it to a nearby exhaust shop to get the resonator removed (it was rotting) and while I was at it, I had piping replaced too. It was actually sagging because of too much piping put on it last. I take it to be that the piping on there must've been replaced before I even bought the car. But yeah, it runs alot better, the vibrations are gone and the car runs alot smoother. Thanks everyone for you help.
